You should also check out Houston Institute of Chinese Martial Arts and Medicine. Jeff Bolt teaches there, he is the chief student of Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming. Not only is Jeff is a nice guy but he is also an extrodinarily knowledgeble MAist. He has been teaching in Houston almost forever. He teaches So. White Crane, Long Fist and Tai Chi. Definitely check him out if you are interested in Chinese martial arts.

Before you buy.

You might also try Master George Ling Hu, who teaches Yang style tai chi chuan, bagua chuan, hsingi chuan, Northern Shaolin, and weapons. E-mail me privately and I can tell you how to get in touch with him. He is one of only two Chinese masters in Houston teaching tai chi as a serious martial art, and Sifu Bolt is not the other one.

Northern Long Hand, Wing Chun, Choi Li Fut, and Tai Chi. If I'm remembering your original post correctly, you were looking for a good workout and effective fighting skills; any of the first three will do fine. (The Tai Chi is martially-oriented, but you'd probably pick up useful skills faster practicing something more direct.)

Northen Long Hand is one of the many Shaolin derived kung fu styles; the history is fuzzy (to me, at least), but it's a clear relative of Crane and Tiger kung fu systems. It emphasizes arm/hand techniques (with little kicking) at medium to long-range, and using your body to control the opponent's while close in.

Wing Chun is Wing Chun. I should know the lineage, but I don't

In Houston, there is a guy named Corky who teaches Pentjak Silat Serak under Pak Victor de Thouars. I've not met Corky, but anyone under Pak Vic is definitely worth checking out (especially if you have any interest in Silat).

I know it's a bit of a haul from Houston, but Lansdale's Self Defense Systems in Nacogdoches is very good. The core system of the school is called Shen Chuan (developed by Prof. Lansdale) and it is very good. I would recommend this to anyone.
