I'm a college student looking for training equipment I can fit into a dorm room. I'm looking for something hard that I can punch and kick that will offer good resistance. I was looking at the century wavemaster bags, but they seem a bit bulky and they seem too springy. I was hoping that someone might be familiar with any products that don't have to be drilled into walls, that are reasonably compact and that can take solid strikes...any ideas??? Thanks for the help.

College? The incoming freshmen worked really well at my school. Find the scrawniest one...as they tend to put up the least amount of struggle after a few hits.

Other than that, not a whole lot comes to mind. The Century bags you mentioned and everything are about the best things for that, but if your college dorm is anything like mine was, it just won't work out as well.

I just found a few sparring partners and mostly trained that way.

*grin*

I pretty much do the same thing now, even though I have a heavy bag and a speed bag in my basement..

I find that real contact makes me work a lot harder.. something about split lips and black eyes (had a rough session with one of my brothers last might, so I'm still thinking about it *grin*) that makes me work out a lot harder.

Plus, three and four years later, movements I have learned and practiced for what feels like forever are finally starting to trickle down into my fighting style. Muscle memory.. What a great feeling.

We used to have a heavy bag in the garage of my parent's house while I was in college. It came down and brought part of the ceiling plaster with it. My dad said no more.

Just take a board and beat yourself for a while.

Oh...you mean on your opponent. Never mind.

Hey...are you the same Josh on rec.knives?

*chuckle*

Ours is suspended in the basement.. It can't come down without taking the kitchen floor with it, but it shakes the house pretty good.. Couple of times I've felt the floor rolling underneath me as I walk in to the kitchen.. Makes the strangest noise, too.

Nope, I meant on me, from my opponent.. Guess I'll keep praticing.

yup.. the one, the only, the sometimes grating..

It's not 'Hey...mom...dad...LET ME OUT OF THIS BASEMENT!!' is it?

Rule #1 : The less you get hit, the better off you'll be in the fight

whoo hoo. I thought it was you, but wasn't sure.
