Sorry to have posted something to your newsgroup without your prior consent.

I would suggest that they know as much or more than you do.

It is spelled deficit. The 4th letter is an i.

Where did you get this nonsense? The whole point is that we are becoming consumers of rather than suppliers to the World economy. We can be consumers only as long as the money holds out. The economics of a society follow the same rules as the economics of a family, just on a larger and more complex scale. If we manufactured nothing, as an example, how long would be an economic power? Not long? If manufacture less we start heading in that direction. Compare imports to consumption? Whew!

A trade

Perhaps but it is never good.

Because to a large extent they are importers. Chrysler isn't even an American company any more. I will suggest to you that they will all become less 'huge' as consumption diminishes in the future.

Time will tell.

Zzzzzzz.......

Let's say you decide there are too many cars going down your street at dangerous speeds. You walk around the neighborhood with a petition regarding the lowering of the speed limit from 35 mph to 20 mph, intending to take this petition to your next town board meeting. Two neighbors tell you it's a ridiculous idea and refuse to sign the petition. Do you boycott those neighbors in every way possible for having a different opinion? Refuse to let your kids play with theirs? Refuse to take their trash cans to the curb when they're away on vacation? No borrowing a cup of sugar or some wood

Sometimes in newsgroups, statements don't work as well as asking questions and letting the respondent handle the rest. But, if you insist:

1) We get so few products from France and Germany that you can boycott until the cows come home and it'll make no difference to their economies.

2) They had every right in the world to disagree with our course of action in Iraq.

3) Their choice not to participate was probably related to protecting companies doing business in Iraq. That makes them as dirty as we are. No
