I have a friend who really needs a #5 torx driver, but can't seem to find one where he doesn't have to come up with enough money to pay for the driver and the high shipping online retailers charge. None of the usual outlets around town have them either unless you're willing to invest in one of their high-priced sets. Does anyone have one they can spare as a thoughtful donation? I would sure appreciate your help.

hit the sale tables in the local hardware stores not chains, I found a full set of cheapies for less than 5 dollars from smaller than a 5 thru a 21. Dave 'a football game is poor use of a site that has already been marked out so conveniently as a pistol range' Hunter

You should probably be able to find a Torx Bit set that you can plug into any bit driver at home depot for like $3-5... I've picked up Hex sets there for that amount and saw torx ones as well...

What about making one from an allen wrench? Been thinking about trying it here lately.

I get my weird tools like that -cheap- at a used tool store. $2 for a blue handled Ecelite #8 torx just happens to have the hole for 'security' screws. If I have trouble with it being too weak I'll file it shorter.

They also have the good old craftsman tools they haven't made for 20 years too and other cool stuff like that. Like for $8.50 a special '1/2' drive, 5/8' impact-knuckle-socket' with Mac stamped on it to reach the upper bolts on my pickup's bell housing. It's cool!

I cut a 5/8' socket as short as I could and that wasn't short enough with an ordinary universal joint attached and the impact universal joint was too big around. My pickup doesn't need much in the way of special tools tho.

Check the yellow pages for 'Tools -used'.

Try Electronics stores. NOT construction/home hardware stores.

Shhhh - never say something doesn't need much in the way of tools - special or otherwise. A person can never have too many tools.
