I have spoken to a number of martial artists who have had hip replacements after years of kicking.

In your opinion, what kicking practices lead to hip injuries? I believe kicking a bag over 40 lbs. in weight can stress the joints, as well as kicking without focus on extension.

Thanks,

I found that doing too many crescent kicks lead to a crunching sound in the hip.....at least thats what the doc said caused it.

I'm not sure either. I was fine before I started Karate. Now after 5 years, my hips definitely pop when I perform round and cresent kicks.
