I would like to hear from any Gymkata practitioners or maybe even Grandmaster Kurt Thomas! (I have your picture on my wall! I tore down that Bruce Lee pic *BLAH*)

I just watched Gymkata on Pay-per-View. All I can say is WOW! I was astonished how Kurt Thomas handled that pommel horse. NHB?! UFC?! Screw that, how about a village full of crazies trying to kick your ****. Luckily Kurt Thomas is highly skilled in pommel-do. The pommel horse was originaly used in Okinawa as a horse plow but they adapted it into a weapon to fight off the Irish. I read that on the net somewhere.

What other art can stand up to Gymkata? Well I think this is fairly obvious from the competition. Most of the bad guys were obviously some sort of Ninja, Akido group. They were so bad thier own people killed them. The first guy to get broken is a Kung Fu master of some sort. No fancy praying mantis stances to help him here. I think he studies Wang Chung or something, or maybe it was Yakisoba.. doesn't matter. Notice the FMA people didn't even bother to show up! Bunch of **** with their ballisongs and ****.

What I'm really worried about though is how is Gymkata's ground game? 90% of the fights between drunks in Gao, Mali goto the ground so I want to be ready. I saw that on the net somewhere. Don't believe me?! Watch UFC, WWF, NCAA Westling, etc.

Before you buy.

Ah yes, Gymkata, one of the worst MA movies made. On a par with the Dolemite movies for action.

I think the plot must have come from the cocaine addled minds of someone I have yet to see profiled on E's True Hollywood Stories. Either that or something out of Turyian Gold's fevered brain.

Kurt is a nice guy and a good gymnast. Too bad he was given that turkey of a movie to be in. He should have gone to Hong Kong and gotten some roles in there first. Did a few Yuen Woo Ping films with Jet Li and then we'd see.

I think after Gymsocks we never saw Kurt again. Perhaps he could get a job now with the Jackie Chan stunt team.

Akuinnen, that's one of the funniest posts I have ever seen. Tim Greer, you need to save your benjamins for a sensayuma transplant, kid.

The idea was pretty cool actually. Gymnastics and karate. Unfortunatly, the trailers were better than the actual movie.

I knew guys that did karate and ballet. Sure, laugh, but ballet is secretly a form of special conditioning. There are things you can do with stretching as the result of ballet drills that arent part of the ballet syllabus.

If you watch them do the drills you'll realise they are doing a mix of isometrics, isotonics, and conventional stretching. You wont catch me dead in tights though.

People think they are bad because they are into martial arts. There's no filtering. In ballet, if you dont have perfect turnout. Your out. Period. No exceptions. Dancing is a ****. If you cant do something, your out the door.

No stringing people along with the illusion that someday down the road you'll suddenly develop talent. The teacher is the example and no ones staking their reputation and ego on inept students.

That's because the profit model is different. Go down a level to grade school gymnastics and dancing where the student does pay the instructor and suddenly you see a lot more low-talent students.

Money.
