I'm looking for a good book on Brazilian Ju-jitsu, since I'm currently not able to take a formal class ( stuck at college without a car. ) I have a training partner with martial arts experience who also wishes to learn, and we will actively practice by using the techniques. Hopefully after doing some work over the next summer, I should get a car and be able to take a formal class.

That said, what's the best book on BJJ out there? I've seen three- The Fighter's Notebook from Submissionfighting.com, the BJJ <email> ( which looked sort of skimpy, ) and the one from bjj.com.au, which looks pretty good.

Does anyone have one or more of these books, and can they give me some thoughts on them?

The fighter´s notebook is not a bjj book only, but for sure one of the best books on the subject of submission fighting. If you buy it, you will need alot of time to go through everything, that might be what you are looking for!

I've got both of the books on BJJ from John Will - www.bjj.com.au and they are excellent. The first book on fundamentals provides instruction in a step-by-step fashion, concentrating on positions and controls - not just submissions. Well worth the money.

Before you buy.
