What's his name? Tony? Let's see now - he whacks at the wood board, he cuts a can and he saws on a sledge hammer and shows us the metal shavings... And then of course he slices through many a tomato like it's not even there. Oh and look at all the money we can save by buying whole cuts of meat and slicing it ourselves!

Anybody care to do any detailed critiques of the accuracy and such about the infamouse infomericals?

Hey for all I know these may be pretty darn good knives...

Inquiring minds want to know...

The last time I saw a commercial for Miracle Blade on TV, the price was $39.99. Current dealer cost for a set of Ginsu is $5.50.

There may be one exception to that... Old Hickory brand by Ontario. They have sets in that price range and the few I've used I really liked. Of course, it's uncoated 1095 so they stain easily, but otherwise they're quite good.

I just checked and your (Fred) store doesn't carry these - I'm not surprised because I think you only like stainless for kitchen use because of the maintenance issue, correct? I can see where the average kitchen knife user wouldn't want to put up with that. Alvin & I are weird like that though

WHAT????? $5.50???????

Interesting how prices fluctuate at places

Sorry.. Fred but I got a set of Ginsu at a whopping 99 cents...

It was at a discount outlet place in Utah called Shaver Mart.. but it was only $1.05 with tax..

And Dr.H too. Old Hickory is the brand Dr.H said he used in his kitchen and wouldn't switch for anything. (was in Nevada)

There has got to be a way around this problem. My ex-(she left yippeebrother-in-law lives in south central Arkansas and uses Old Hickory kitchen knives and carbon steel pocket knives and Mike Swaim lives in one of the Carolinas and carrys what amounts to an 8ot and uses carbon steel kitchen knives too.

They don't have a rust problem so there has to be an answer.

Lard?

That'll help but not the best answer here.

Learning how to use a clean dish drying towel?

Yep, bet that's it.
