I have lost my motivation because of depression lately. This has lead me to regret which is a viscous circle. Any advice on getting back to training. It has almost been a month. Kickboxing & Karate.........

Don't be anxious to have missed out anything, not that a pause of one month would be much time in the first place. People with complicated injuries sometimes have to pause much longer. Just go back to training and carry on. Do it, the training, the physical exhaustion and being with other people *will* help you getting better. In martial arts there aren't any curricula which could be compared with school curricula anyway, so you don't have to fear to have 'fall back' behind the rest...

Everyone I've ever met in MA goes through down patches, when you don't really feel like training. Generally speaking, they'll get through them somehow, then probably decide that they like training after all and go back. For now, if you're in that state, don't feel bad taking a break. Go back when you feel you want to, not because you feel you should. Maybe go for the after-training drink with your mates but not the session - talking to them about it, you might decide you want to go train again.

Cheers,

I know how you feel. I went through the same thing. Except my break was quite a bit longer. It was real hard getting back into training, especially since I managed to get into pathetic shape. What I did was just jump right back into training. It's definitely helped me. I feel much better, both physically and mentally.

Thanks Mike, I agree with you, it is the fitness part that scares me, but I took the first step tonight and called my Kick-boxing teacher. He was great and all I can say is that I should have done it sooner.

Thank you for the words of encouragement and thanks also to Nele Abels-Ludwig.
