I just picked up the first Swiss Army knife I have owned in years, and love the size and weight compared to my Leatherman and Gerber multi-tools. I am spoiled however by high quality knives now, with the best steels, so I am wondering if anyone out there makes a knife very similar to the SAK, the medium sized ones, made out of the latest and greatest materials and steels. Custom or production.

I'd be interested in this too, I have always liked the main blade on my sak soldier. I just would like the blade to be lockable and the knife to be scaled up about 30% in size. I am toying with the idea of making a linerlock one for myself but I have never made a folder before hence my trepidation.

Hi,

I never saw any SAKs with custom made blade(s), but I think they may exist. As to a locked SAK with a longer blade : they exist! Mine is a Victorinox ( 1 locked 80mm blade, 1 canopener+srewdriver, 1 bottleopener+screwdriver, 1 corkscrew, 1 shap pin for leatherwork and scraping, 1 toothpick and 1 pair of tweezers). Looking at it just now, I was astonished over the many tools they hid in a rather slim body. I remember it cost around 20$ some years ago.

I think AG Russell has a nice classic Boy Scout in ATS34. Worth checking.

brianWE Things will get better....when they finish getting worse.
