1) Excellent teacher, but many miles away.... comes in to the area about 5 times a year. Most of the year, classes are taught by the diciples. There are no other organizations in the area that teach this style (Chen Taiji). Do you think it would be btter to change styles for one that has regular teachings (that the lineage is maybe not quite as solid), or go with an awesome teacher with proven lineage that you don't see very often? The reason I ask is that I love the explosiveness and low stances of Chen Style....but I don't know if it is the best thing to see the main sifu only a handful of times per year.

2) I saw a Taiji video that had a small section of combat techniques. These guys were quite old, and were doing throws(quite nice might I add) right there on the pavement. They didn't seem to be breakfalling either. I was just wondering if this is normal Taiji practice.

I'm exactly in the same case,... Try to get some trainning partners,.. If your sensei (or sifu) is many miles far from you your learning will be more slow but don't forget the most importan part in MA trainning it's your personal practice... BTW my sensei was exactly in the same situation and he has excelent level nowadays
