Communism and isolation in china is what makes modern chinese Martial arts what it is. what are your views?

The reason for my view is because peasants dont have anything better to do they have more time to train...but since capitalism and americanism is taking over the world, it has eroded the training ways... Now china has opened up its doors to the world, consumerism and materialism has diverted resources from martial arts...

Well, now we can add Communism, Capitalism, and peasant lifestyles to the list of things you know nothing about.

True peasants rarely have much time to do anything but work, sleep, and make more peasants. And what time they do have can be spent very inventively in coming up with entertainments.

Well, let's think about this some more. Aerobics is a little different situation than weights here, because many martial arts, if performed vigorously, promote the aerobic component automatically. There's simply not quite the same need for supplemental aerobics, assuming someone is training regularly and vigorously.

BTW, many MAs lend themselves naturally to some cutting-edge exercise physiology in aerobic training. I'm talking here of high intensity interval training, which develops VO2 Max very efficiently and has the added bonus of being an absolute gem for reducing bodyfat. In fact, I train that way myself on days where I don't have a lot of time, and time seems to be harder for everyone to find. It's a matter of training most efficiently within a given time frame. Much of a normal 2-3 hour typical 'training session' is, in fact, an inefficient use of time.

If there's enough interest, this would make a good thread in itself.

Pardon my ignorance, but I have no idea what usagitobi is- are we referring to a a specific belt exercise here?? As for squats, sure they're great as a general leg conditioner, but like others have said here, you can duplicate the effect to some degree by any action that lowers the stance. A horse stance, basically, is a low-resistance squat. Low stances in themselves are a fine way of strengthening the legs; but there's nothing wrong with supplementing like you're suggesting.

Sounds like a plan. Regards,
