Well, I need cash. I'm thinking about teaching at a McDojo franchise as an assistant instructor or something. Has anyone done it before? Do they have certain guidelines that you must follow. For example, do they tell you to try NOT to fail anyone on the belt test? Thanks.

I've done it. I never really had any guidelines per say but there were issues when trying to show people stuff that wasn't specific for there next rank... what a waste of time that was. Im paying for it now 10 fold by getting my ass beat by real fighters.

Unless you are a part of the style and that particular school you aren't going to walk in and start teaching.
Assistant instructors at McDojos don't get paid, they get special treatment and faster rank advancement...duh.

Don Wagner scribbled: : Unless you are a part of the style and that particular school you : aren't going to walk in and start teaching.
Actually, this particular school doesn't care as long as your art is pretty similar to them. Heck, I even know a few tai chi stuff. I can probably teach that so they can cash in the fad.

You should be ashamed of yourself for even considering it.

Not always, Don. For several months before a prominent Denver-area chain of 'studios' opened their Boulder branch, they had a help wanted ad for 'Instructors' in the local paper which said (quite prominently, I might add) 'no martial arts experience required'.
Only if they pay for the extra-special, super-duper, 'instructor's course'.
