Hi All,

I was just wondering if there are any Case Collectors out there, and why there isn't a Case Collectors Newsgroup so we could trade stories, post sales, and talk shop...

I'm new to this group, so if that sort of thing goes on here, let me know. I love the Case brand, been collecting a while, and my Family too.

Hope to hear from you.

I don't think there's enough traffic to have any group for just one brand.

That would be an incorrect assumption on your part. I refer you to the editorial on knife collecting in the current issue of Knife World. The author says there are essentially two kinds of collectors. Those who collect Case© Brand and those who collect every other brand ever conceived on the planet. I'd agree. He goes on to talk about the very unique language used by Case© collectors, and their little picadilloes. I highly recommend the article. You might want to search the Usenet arena for other specific groups dedicated to automotive brands. I'm a MoPar nut, too, and there must be ten Usenet areas dedicated to just the Chrysler Brands, themselves. Case© Brand has a growing interest and following in a collector's sense. To ignore or deny that fact just doesn't show much forethought.

I've collected Case© knives for over twenty years, and have acquired about three hundred of them. I have only a couple made before 1940, however, as I'm a nut for condition for those that end up actually 'in' my collecrtion. I have several dozen junkers stored away, that I got as parts donations, and I carry three knife rolls of 18 each, as 'traders,' so that if I run across something I like, just like when I was a kid and collected baseball cards, I can offer a trade. I've traded with some of the regualrs on this newsgroup, and would be very interested in a specialized group dedicated only to Case© Brand Collectors. Maybe some of the regulars here on <rec.knives> would come along with their uproarious opinions of Case© Brand knives and the history that follows them, and allow us to ignore them.

God Bless, Dan'L

Start your group and have a blast, then.

Having 'a growing interest and following in a collector's sense' is great, but we have still yet to see the Case news group. Nobody, including me, has denies this 'fact,' but it has failed to make the group materialize. Maybe it can happen, but your 'fact' has failed to make it happen.

Then start your group.

Do state what uproarious opinions you are talking about.

<no thanks, I'm not superstitious>

Prove it, Dan'l. By making a 'busy' Case newsgroup.

So what's the matter with talking about Case knives and collecting them here on r.k? :/ ...I mean, besides that shit-head-alvin and religious-nut-case-dan'l hangin out here. :/ But those buttheads can be over looked by the fully grown-up person. No kidding.

alt groups are supposed to be easy as pie to start. <alt.case-knife.collecting>

Comparing Chrysler product interest with Case knife collecting is just plain ol silly tho. :/

Picturing -all- the people I know, only one has ever posted anything about knives (way too much! and several have asked at least a few questions each about automobiles.

But to narrow it down to three guys that are closest to me...

My dad is on certain Chrysler newsgroups and my brother is on certain GM brand NGs and I'm on r.k and alt.ford.trucks.

To make it look worse for you, I'm not a Case knife collector even tho I have more of them than other people have kitchen knives and I'm an ex-Case-knife-dealer yet not interested in collector talk.

That's my data base.

I think it's you Dan'l, that's jumped to conclusions.

I'll shut on this subject now ok? :/

If you want to discuss trading/collecting knives of any kind, just start a new thread anytime! And if I get involved I promise to be nice ok?

What you both say is true. There are many Case collectors, Case is the largest collected brand, and, no, there isn't likely enough traffic to support a Case only newsgroup. Incidentally, I have a modest collection of Case Eisenhowers in different handle materials and a modest collection of various Case patterns in stag. No problem with talking about Case right here on this newsgroup. Take care.

Are the Eisenhowers on the way out? Seems like they don't offer many options for it. I remember SMKW having an Eisenhower for almost every series, even a similar unlabeled pattern for the workman series. Never saw a yellow one, or I might have bought one. I like the drop-point blades and sheepsfoot, but see little reason for a 1.5' blade to be a clippoint.

BTW, I just saw the new orange G10 models on their web page! Cool! Not many models I like just yet (maybe the muskrat), but I was just thinking a few days ago that it would be cool to have a G10 Case. The bad news is that my idea to modify one myself with a G10 handle (or probably micarta, since that's on hand) would no longer result in such a unique knife.

I'm not the one who wants one, or maybe you missed that in your desire to piss out the fire, here.

But I'm not TRYING to make it happen. I was simply responding to an inquiry from the O.P. after he was told that there wasn't enough interest in Case© Brand knives, and that's all I was trying to do.

You seem to have missed a small point, here Alvin, . . . . I wasn't the one who wanted one.

Specifics are found at Google.com, but I was referring, in general, to all the pooh-poohing <rec.knives> seems to have, from time to time, about the supposedly terrible quality of the 'surgical stainless' and the inclusive rhetoric by all the wannabe metalurgists who post here. I believe that you have, from time to time, even said that you didn't really care for the Chrome Vanadium blades, either, . . . . isn't that so??

Is it the simple salutation of 'God Bless,' that sets you off onto your 'offense-is-the-best-defense' mode, or was it my tone of voice in conveying the idea that the first responder was essentially full of shit??

God Bless, Dan'L

Some day, (when you get to visit the outter side of those pearly gates), you MIGHT become superstitious rather quickly, ehh?? We all make our choices in this life, and we all live with the consequences inherent to each of them. Obviously, you've chosen.

Why??

It's really amazing how the simple salutation of 'God Bless,' makes some people into the most obnoxious assholes, . . . . but I guess they say a lot about themselves, without really saying that much, ehh?? Religious nut, INDEED. Please! My relationship with my God is MY business. None of yours. (Like I said, we make our choices, . . . )

So?????

Really, even considering that the original poster was simply asking a question and was told that one brand wasn't going to generate enough interest to warrant a brand-specific group?? Well, Opinions seem to be common to everyone, just like assholes. Some stink and others might be questionable, but, in any event, I don't care to test yours.

I'm not sure I understand that logic, but, . . . . . Lemme think, . . . .

And, so no one should ever ask more than one question about a particular knife, . . . .?? . . . . . Why????? Oh, yeah, because you've passed a new admiinistrative rule against it. Better let the guy who maintains the FAQ know about it.

So, I guess I'm supposed to be impressed??

Maybe so. I'm sorry you're so upset about it. . . . . . It's the 'God Bless,' isn't it?? Was it painful??

Promises, Promises!

Okay. That's big of you, . . . and if you can find the character to admit the problem is with 'God Bless,' . . . . I'll try to remember not to use it around you, so you won't feel so self-conscious/guilty.

God Bless, Dan'L
