I can just see a whole thread being started of people arguing whether striking or grappling arts cure AIDS.

....

I find it interesting that the self same people decrying the use of traditional medicine cannot provide the high tech medicine they tout. There are millions and millions of AIDS sufferers in Africa- a percentage of a single percentage will have any access to any drugs at all, much less good ones, much less the best ones. The Chinese pharmacopoeia may very well have an experimental history of relieving immune system diseases- whatever it is, it is available- and whatever relief it gives is more than they're getting otherwise. And whatever money he's making is minuscule next to the obscene profits of drug companies and their flavor of the month AIDS treatments. I say, give them all tapes and VCR's and spandex; little enough comfort in their distress.

I don't know...how did you put it, ...'drug companies and their flavor of the month AIDS treatments.' There's too much nothing in there for my taste. And the researchers who've jumped a couple decades ahead in their gene and virus research and the resulting treatments are to be applauded and yes... it is up to the public to add more conscience to that and get those who desperately need this relief their due.

However, the nations of africa do a pretty good job of purchasing armaments.

They also had little interest in public education or in addressing this viral disease. They have proven themselves infinitely more callous than the drug companies- these are their own citizens, their own people, and that is more troubling and disappointing than the companies <email> and die by the buck.
