Oh, now I see where you are coming from. You are talking about ballet. You'd like to take the entire point out of this, and pretend you live in nerf world, where everyone is happy and no-one gets hurt.

I used to know a place just like that. Badger, Don, Russ and I took it over, and now all the shiny happy nice people work in the mines for us. Heh.

Heh. I think Pete's bowie play would have made you throw up. I'd pay money to see that. :o)

Hmm. I'd lay money that I understand the culture, the qi AND the winning without engaging more than you do. But during the bet, as I'm showing off my knowledge to you, I'd have to pop you one in the head. But I wouldn't mean it harshly, really. I'd be proving a point.

Yes.

That's it. Well...that, and the universe simply calls for you getting popped, but come now. That's not MY fault, now is it.

Oh, do explain the difference for me. Not that I care, but I do think it would be fun. Don't you?

:o) (a very restrained) Kevin

Ummm...

The prelim snippet that we bought at the seminar was entitled:

''19th Century American Heritage Combat Arts, Basic Seminar Training Manual' by P. A. Kautz, Master at Arms. Introduction in the History, Philosophy, and Practice Of 19th Century Western Physical Culture And Diverse Use of Arms for Personal Defense: Bayonet - Bowie Knife - Saber - Shillelagh - Tomahawk And Unarmed Rough and Tumble Fighting'

It's in the works, as in unfinished, so where and when? I've no idea. Oh wait, right here in the back: Mid 2001. Visit:
http://alliancemartialarts.com

He also has another one, which is already out. ''Hands Against the Knife' Techniques of the Italian Master Achille Marozzo', which has been favorably reviewed by such notable gentlemen as John Clements, Hock Hockheim and James Keating.

There you go. Buy buy buy. Buy now. Don't delay, operators are dozing off randomly as we speak.

:o) Kevin

Ever since Grokk picked up a stick and a sharp rock, martial arts has been about weapons.

Some schools my stress empty hand but the style has weapons somewhere in its genes. Whether the teacher is providing the complete style is another story.

What style do you train in and for how long?

I have no personal interest in violence, have no weapons and do not live in fear of my neighbours. If I were to study martial arts it would not be to 'protect' myself or to do harm to anyone else. That you feel a need for both protection and attack is proof enough that you are a great deal less strong than I. We have no need to 'do battle' to figure that out. As Sun Tzu said, the greatest warriors win without fighting, the lesser warrior fights and then seeks (and fails) to find victory.

That answers all of our questions.

How would you know anything about a subject you have no active part in? Even Jane 'OookOook' Goodall became a defacto gorilla in order to understand the culture.

Until we hit the mats that is. David, do you line in a gated community or in some isolated farming community?

You haven't won a thing, my brother. In fact you're getting soundly
